Runner Sizing
We have compiled some common sizes and some guidelines to help you choose the right tablerunner for your home. If you still have questions about the sizing please call us 10am-5pm EST Mon-Fri, and we will be glad to assist you.

In most cases adding the length of your piece, plus the desired drop x 2 (once for each end), will give you the needed runner length so for a 64” table with a 10” drop on both ends you’ll want an 84” Runner.

For Dining Room Tables

The length of the drop is only a consideration if a chair is kept on the end of the table.
If there is a Chair kept on the end of the table, runners should hang no longer than 12” , so that they don’t land on the seat of the chair. If there is no chair, the length can vary according to taste. If you prefer, a runner may also be chosen in a shorter length to sit on top of the table without running over the ends. In this instance you will want to chose a runner a few inches shorter than the length of the table, as it is aesthetically more pleasing to have a little of the table around the runner.

For Pianos
For Grand Pianos the sound board ranges from approx. 58” to 61.5” and most opened lids will accommodate a 14” wide Runner. If the Runner is intended for the top of the Piano and not on the open lid, width is not specific and the length of the runner is purely a personal aesthetic decision on pianos. We like the dramatic ends of long runners against the rich wood or black enamel of pianos. For Upright Pianos the width of the sound board will be similar to the Grand but the width of the top will vary, please call us if a standard size listed does not fit.

For Bedding the following are the most common mattress widths. Bedding varies in height so the drop can vary. We recommend a 8” to 20” inch drop in most cases, provided it doesn’t reach the floor
